A Virtual Day with Your Dog Featuring the Metrowest K9 5K
JUNE 14 - 30, 2020
Full information for runners/walkers are available HERE. Attention runners, walkers, and supporters! Enjoy a healthy day with your dog from the comfort of your own neighborhood to promote people and pets staying healthy together! This 5th annual event is taking place VIRTUALLY but just because we have to be physically distant doesn't mean we can't come together to help Massachusetts animals.
Go for a walk or run, visit the park, play ball, or work on agility with your pup. However you choose to participate, you are helping raise money for the MVMA Charities, which funds the needs of stray animals and provides emergency & disaster preparedness and response education for communities across Massachusetts.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. Gain visibility in the community while doing good for animals in need in MA. CLICK HERE to learn more and enroll.
Recap of the June 2019 event
On a gorgeous June day, 200 people (and over 80 dogs!) took to the trails of the MetroWest YMCA Family Outdoor Center in Hopkinton to raise money and awareness for the MVMA Charities at the fourth annual Metrowest K9 5K.
Racers from veterinary clinics showed their pride in custom team t-shirts while others sported colorful facepaint designs courtesy of Making Faces and Body Designs. Participants enjoyed free lunch from Subway and complimentary ice cream to cool off in the summer sun. Vendors offered raffle prizes to benefit the charity and pets posed for portraits with their humans courtesy of Keith Jacobs Photography, who donated proceeds back to the MVMA Charities as well. 20 vendors from the human and animal fields came out to support our cause and MVMA member Dr. Cerie Couture even educated the youngest attendees on veterinary science for kids!
The doggy demonstrations are always a highlight of the event and this year’s pups didn’t disappoint! The disc doggers of Pups in the Air leapt and flew as they caught frisbees to some rockin’ tunes, the police K9 unit from Mass Vest-a-Dog showed how they fight the bad guys and answered audience questions, and Charles River Dog Training Club (CRDTC) opened up the field to all dogs for some interactive games. “Bowling for Beagles” was a huge hit!
At the end of the day, nearly $12,000 was raised for the MVMA Charities!
Thank you to all of our sponsors, 5K participants, volunteers, and organizers for making this a successful event.
We can’t wait to see you next year!
